Agana (Courtyard), Suchismita Mohanty, Installation and Performance, 2018.

I am practicing organic urban farming on the roof-top of my house in Delhi. I cultivate many vegetables and other kinds of plants; thus, farming has become an inspiration for my art practice. Food has always been a part of my art practice and I am especially inspired by Odia cuisine when it comes to food experiments and art making.

 

Agana or Courtyard is my art work which uses both performance and sculpture representative of the Odisha state, family and systems of food sharing. Here I have introduced my artistic practice on food experiment with the people of Old Town, Bhubaneswar.  I have shared my knowledge on our Odia food ingredients and collected data about traditional cooking processes. It is more like an exchange of knowledge between the traditional and the contemporary life.
